What better way to learn how to direct tournaments then by the PDGA themselves. I was invited to come down to the IDGC for just that. Bob joined me. There were classes on online registration, sponsorship, live scoring, etc. There were directors from all over the U.S. It was awesome meeting so many. We did play a two round tournament as well. It was ratings based, which I really liked. It took age and gender out of the equation. You play with others that are around the same rating you are. I thought it was great. I was one of 10 in the red division (ratings 850-900) and Bob was one of 4 in the green division. Bob isn't rated, so he chose to play there. It was a great battle, but somehow I pulled out the win. There was only 1 stroke between me and 2nd, 1 stroke between him and 3rd and him between 4th that had a tie. It was a very close contest for sure! Bob did really well on Steady Ed, but ROCKED Warner and he won his division by a ton. I am excited to say that after playing disc golf sine the mid 80's that Bob is now a PDGA member! Yeah! We both learned a lot from this event and played some good golf too with some really great folks!
