Debbie's Notes:
Winning a World title in the mixed doubles eased the pressure somewhat for the singles. Only slightly. Round 1 was at Bailey Rd. Park. I shot 9 under par, which put me in 2nd place. Overall, I felt good about the round. I only had one bougy and had 10 birdies. I'm glad I went 9 under there because round 2 that afternoon was at Nevin where I shot 9 over. So at the end of the day I was still in 2nd place, shooting even.
Michelle Frazier was now in 1st place and pretty much stayed there the rest of the tournament. She was amazing to watch, she had such a pretty and long drive. She was very accurate and had a lot of luck through the trees (especially at Nevin.)
Day two we are out at Sugaw Creek. I had a pretty good round and it allowed me to be tied with Michelle for 1st place after three rounds. Day 3 we were out at Elon for two rounds. At the end of the day I was back in 2nd place. Day 4 we were at Eastway. I did really well until the rain came. But still I hung on to 2nd place, however Michelle was distancing herself from me in 1st.
Saturday morning was the semi-final round back out at Sugaw. I finally had the hot round with a 57. Colleen and Heather were with Michelle and I on this round, but Colleen didn't have a good round at Sugaw and dropped to 5th place. So heading into Finals at Hornet's Nest it was Michelle in 1st by 9 over me in 2nd, then Heather Dameron in 3rd and Holly Finley in 4th. Heather actually did the best in the finals but the order remained the same at the end.
So at the end of Worlds week I had won a title in mixed doubles and was runner-up in singles. 2nd place of 45 advanced ladies isn't too bad. I was very proud of myself and the way I played. I represented Charlotte well.
Victoria's Notes:
On July 17-21st, we had world's week. A lot of people who came for the world's stayed at our house.
I came in 2nd and a girl named Desiree came in first by 1 stroke. My scores beat 1 girl from the 13 & under divisions and 1 from the 16 & under division. I shot my best round ever at Bailey Road park, but at Elon Park, I got more 3's. I also got a 2 (birdie) on a hole at Bailey.
For a trophy, I got a picture of a painting. I had a lot of fun!
Bob's Notes:
Day 0 - Friday (Preparation & Guests Arrive)
- I had some challenges at work that kept me from getting home when I'd hoped to, but it wasn't anything critical. More annoying was that I had to address something at work every day during this 'vacation' week.
- Cory & her family from Illinois were the first to arrive. They weren't staying with us, only coming to visit and join us for supper. It was wonderful to meet them in person (Debbie had chatted regularly with Cory online for months) and we even got a round or two of Kan Jam in.
- Debbie had prepared dinner for all our guests. We had no idea when everyone would arrive, so it was a eat-whenever-you're-ready meal.
- Sara & Robert were the next to arrive. The kids & I had a great time playing Wii Disc Golf with them while Debbie & Cory & family went to check out Hornet's Nest park.
- Michelle was the last to arrive tonight. She stayed in Christian's room for most of the week, but had to crash on the couch tonight as Christian didn't go to Granny Joy's until Monday.
Day 1 - Saturday (Mixed Doubles competition)
Coming Soon!
