Debbie's Notes:

I have competed in the 2010 & 2011 CAC with not so hot finishes. I was not going to let that happen this year! I knew my courses and my game and it was on!! We had fewer participants this year in advanced women. Heather Damron, Sue Smith, Babette Martin, Donna Stanley & myself were the field.

We start off at Winget, a fairly new course to Charlotte. It is mostly wooded with sharp turns and tight fairways. I play these types of courses well, so it wasn't surprising that I shot 2 down (55) on that round. It's nice to take a 5 stroke lead after the first round. My drives were on and my putts solid. I was very pleased with my play on that course.

Round 2 was at Elon park. We played the World's layout of the Eager Beaver. Again I shot a 2 down (52). Using the world's layout does make that course a little bit more challenging. So after round 2 I have a 12 stroke lead -- not too bad.

Round 3 was at Idlewilde park, also a pretty new course to Charlotte. This one is also wooded, but a little longer and more open than Winget. I did pretty well, shot a 5 over (63). I should have played a little better, but still won the round and increased my lead to 15 strokes going into Kilborne.

Round 4 was at Kilborne, using the World's layout. I guess I laxed up a little. I pretty much knew, barring some freak accident or incident that I was going to win the division. I played pretty well though. I did have my only really bad hole of the tournament, hole #3, which I usually 3 or 4 it, I got a 6. I just couldn't get out of the woods. Let it go, move on. I did birdie 8 & 9 which helped to bring that back into line. I shot the same as Idlewilde, 63 which brought me to +6 for the tournament. I was very pleased with that.

I did ultimately win the tournament with a 6 over par. Next year I plan on running the woman's divisions since I won it this year. I had a great time with the other ladies. We all stayed on the same card the whole time.

I had a great time with my house guest, Lance McLean. We had dinner Friday night at Azteca and very much enjoyed each other's company the whole weekend. The player's party at Elon Saturday night was fun. I ran several CTP events for Dynamic Discs and we ate pizza. Fun! This was a big tournament for me. I am glad I got to check that off my list!
