Debbie's Notes:
I had always heard that Castle Hayne refered to as Castle Pain because of the very tightly wooded fairways. It wasn't a pain for me. This played perfectly to my style of play. I was so excited to be finally playing in this tournament. I was waitlisted for it last year. This year it was just Michelle Horn and I in advanced women. We played with the intermediate gals the first round which was quite distracting. I was able to put my mp3 sunglasses on to help me keep focused. I shot well each round and was able to gain the victory by 27 strokes. It was fitting since Michelle obliterated me at VTI. Payback!
The last round Michelle and I played with Chuck Connelly and Henry Childress. I was so excited, I thought I'm gonna learn so much from these guys. NO. What I didn't know was that all three of them were the bottom of their divisions and didn't care anymore. They all goofed off the whole time. Bob, who caddied for me told me to hold it together and play well regardless. So I did. That last round I shot my second best score of the four rounds. I also acquired the nickname "Debstroyer" from Henry because I used my yellow destroyer almost the whole time out there. Great trip and getaway. We stayed at a very nice hotel and got back just in time to go straight to the kids school for pick up.
