2 Innova Wahoos, 5 trophy discs, T-shirts, candy (also 1 putter + poison ivy cream from raffle)
Victoria's Notes:
I have won the round I played. For lunch I had pizza and Sprite to drink.
We played a putting, accuracy, and driving context. I won the accuracy and the driving contests and it was a lot of fun!
I met new people. Abby is 10 years old and Z is 8 years old. Sarah was the one who ran the tournament.
Christian's Notes:
We did a tournament and we played disc golf. We played holes # 3-18 then 1 and 2.
Then after #2, we went on the playgoround. When it was time to do prizes, I got 2 new discs and Tori got 3 new discs. After that I said, "can we go on the playground?" again. When it was pizza time, i got pizza and I got candy.
We took lots of pictures. I got to see Z again. I made new friends, Charlie and Isaac.
Debbie's Notes:
See Bob's comments for the actually event summary. This was the first time I was a caddy and not a participant. That was different (in a good way.) Actually, I was more like card captain. I kept up with Victoria and Anna's score and Bill kept up with Z's. I took my division through the singles round and the field events. Tori did awesome and I am so proud of her and her behavior on the course. The other girls were great too. I am glad she actually had other girls to play with this time. From the little I saw Christian play, he did great too. We look forward to doing it again next year!
Bob's Notes:
Wow! I see Victoria & Christian play disc golf all the time and I was still very impressed. They both played very well, had great results, and had a great time. What more could I ask for?
Christian played in the new division (boys 7 and under). There were 7 in his division and 3 on his card. Victoria played in the Girl's 8-10 division and there 3 girls in it.
Momma caddied for Victoria and "Daddy Caddy" walked with Christian. Christian's group started on hole #3 and Christian's very first throw of the day landed 5-6 feet to the right of the target, setting up an easy birdie and a great start to the round. Both Christian & Victoria won their divisions with scores of 62 and 63 respectively.
Everyone then got together for lunch (pizza & soda) and most of the kids played on the playground while they prepared the staff to run the next activities... field events. They had competitions for putting, accuracy, and distance (each by their division). The wind played havoc with most of the throws in the competition, which was probably a good thing in that Christian & Victoria might have swept the prizes otherwise.. this way, there were several other winners which is very important for kids.
Sarah Stanhope & staff did a phenomenal job putting this event together and running it. I was a huge success and had over 40 participants (incredible participation for a Juniors tournament!).
We went out for a celebration dinner afterwards and ended up eating at a restaurant called the Copper River Grill. That turned out to be an unexpectedly wonderful experience as well (amazing food, service, and portion sizes) and we very much recommend everyone try it when in the area.
We all had a fabulous day and we're so proud of Victoria and Christian! They are incredible!
